How to wear patterned pants- Shop Your Own Closet

Posing in Paris

I don’t know about you, but the thought of wearing jeans in summet gets me sweaty. I do love the patterned pants trend and would love to incorporate it in my look, but I feel that wearing thin, soft fabrics or capri pants is much more summer appropriate than sweating my heart out in printed jeans.

To demonstrate what I mean, Toad took a photo with his friends wearing some colored pants to show off this summer’s looks. And yes, they are posing in Paris. I really tried to avoid the simple bright pants+ white shirt look, though I do realize it’s what most people would opt for. So Toad ended up wearing patterned pants, a white shirt and a denim vest, which is really cool yet not too edgy. Toad’s friends, on the other hand, got into mixing bright colors with even brighter colors and patterns.

How are you going to be wearing your patterned pants this summer?

Toad at Met’s Fashion Benefit

Last week, while we were all gawking at our computer screens to watch the fabulously over the top borderline grotesque display of gowns worn in a new Metropolitan Museum of Art exhibition comparing the designers Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada, Toad has achieved the impossible.

As you can see, Toad has gone to where no toad has gone before. I was so proud of him, I even shed a tear. He looked fabulous wearing a simple yet chic gown by Badgley Mischka. This look has really let Toad’s personality shine through, and not let him be overshadowed by an outfit that is perhaps too complex. He really looks radiant. Don’t forget me when you’re famous, Toad!

Toad goes to Coachella

Coachella came and went, but relaxed summer styles are here to stay. The people who went to Coachella seem to all be indifferent to style with their “oh I am wearing the first rag I laid my eyes on” expression and their “I’m only here for the music” state of mind. Well, I can’t hear the music from where I’m sitting, which is currently the middle east, so it makes sense to talk about what I’m able to see from here. Prints are all over the place, this year the prints are noticeable on dresses and bottoms, which is a plus when it comes to my lanky white girl ass. Also, wide brim hats are back. I have previously talked about my love of all hats, so seeing said head accessory on some famous heads makes my little head bobble with joy.

Toad has decided to join the pretty people of the world and attend Coachella. He decided to wear a high/low hem floral dress to show off his legs, while wearing gladiator sandals. What a bold move, Toad.  A brown hat, a small leather bag and a silver skinny belt for a touch of glam, just to make a statement.

All the photos you see and their sources can be found on my Coachella Pinterest board. Pop on there to see more Coachella photos. Illustrations are done by me.
