How to wear patterned pants- Shop Your Own Closet

Posing in Paris

I don’t know about you, but the thought of wearing jeans in summet gets me sweaty. I do love the patterned pants trend and would love to incorporate it in my look, but I feel that wearing thin, soft fabrics or capri pants is much more summer appropriate than sweating my heart out in printed jeans.

To demonstrate what I mean, Toad took a photo with his friends wearing some colored pants to show off this summer’s looks. And yes, they are posing in Paris. I really tried to avoid the simple bright pants+ white shirt look, though I do realize it’s what most people would opt for. So Toad ended up wearing patterned pants, a white shirt and a denim vest, which is really cool yet not too edgy. Toad’s friends, on the other hand, got into mixing bright colors with even brighter colors and patterns.

How are you going to be wearing your patterned pants this summer?

Shop your own closet- Dare to Wear White Jeans

White jeans, what can be said about them that has not been said before? They could make your ass look huge, when paired with white tops you could be mistaken for a nurse and they could look a little cheap when paired with a tiny top. However, there are ways to surf the white wave without looking like a walking marshmallow.

One of those ways, is to pair the skinny white jeans with a loose fitting top, oversized bag and sneakers. I am finding myself warming up to the wedge sneaker trend. By the time this trend passes, I’ll probably be willing to try it myself. Basically, as long as you pair things that not too dainty looking with the white skinnies- you’re safe.

It came as a surprise to me, but white really has a great look to it when paired with chambray. The clean, almost preppy (did I say that?) look could work great for spring or a European holiday. For a touch of class add a little blazer and voila! You are ready for Paris.

For those of you who cannot go a day without color blocking, I have found that the best way to incorporate color into this is by using bright accessories. Wearing very loud tops with white pants might look a little too simple, instead I’d try to add texture in colors that are on the monochromatic scale, and add just a little pop of neon in the form of a bold accessory.

To be honest, I thought white pants to be impractical, but this little guide I wrote has proven me wrong. I can too wear white pants without my ass channeling its inner, or outer, marshmallow, hurrah!

So now that this trend is slightly less scary looking (to me, at least), you can all go on and experiment with it, and by you I mean me, and by experiment I mean dinner. I’m starving. Tweet me!
